Biography
Job Description
I am the Executive Director and the PI of three federal grants, one contract, and the Co-PI on three state grants.
Years At CASAT / Positions Held
In August 2016 my tenure at CASAT will total 22 years. I have held the following positions; Advisory Board Member; Instructor; Lecturer; Project Manager; Treatment Director; and Executive Director.
Work History
Prior to working at CASAT I worked at SAPTA in 1979 as a graduate intern and ran adolescent substance abuse treatment and recovery programs in Las Vegas and Reno Nevada for the following fifteen years. In addition, I am a licensed alcohol and drug counselor and a licensed marriage and family therapist. I had a very small private practice for about ten years. While earning my masters’ degree at San Diego State I worked for a teen runaway crisis and intervention line, a residential program for adolescent females wit co-occurring disorders, and facilitated group counseling sessions in high risk high schools in San Diego County. I wrote my first grant in 1980 and enjoy teaching/training.
Personal Bio
I grew-up in Southern California and went to San Diego State for my undergraduate and graduate degrees. I have been with my husband for 32 years but married for 28 years. I have one son, 25 who works as a licensed athletic trainer with ‘high-end football teams’. Currently, he works for the Kansas City Chiefs as an intern. I like talking about him so beware of asking questions about him because you will get an earful. We have a almost 18 year old black cat that only tolerates us as he is truly my son’s cat although he hasn’t lived at home for 7 years. I enjoy reading mysteries, walking almost every weekend weather permitting, by the Truckee River or Lake Tahoe, bike riding, hanging out with old friends from high school and college, watch football, cooking, creating music playlists on my IPad, antique shopping, and shopping in general. My true or karmic home is in Maine where I have visited almost every fall for over 20 years. In addition, I am fairly well-traveled through out New England.
